The
Internet offers some significant advantages to shoppers, and is becoming increasingly
popular with both adults and young people. It can give you access to products and services
which are not available in your local stores. It can save time, and help you avoid crowds.
It can save you money, as some kinds of products are substantially cheaper in other
countries. It can help you research product details and make comparisons of prices and
features, before you physically visit a store for a demonstration. Purchase by credit card
is the usual method of payment, which has restricted the ability of young people to shop
online. Recent developments in the introduction of pre-paid Payment cards that can be
credited with money by adults, are likely to stimulate suppliers to target more products
and marketing at a youth market, fuelling a rapid growth in children buying goods online.
Clothing Material --
When you are finding a good clothing material the selection process can seem overwhelming
because of the many different types of fabrics and materials on the market. These three
tips will give you some perspective on the different fabric styles and which ones are more
durable and which ones are more fashionable and versatile when trying to mix and match
other clothes with them.
1. Whether you are going to be making a vest,
skirt, jacket or another type of clothing piece being able to choose a material that is
versatile is important. Velvet is one of the most popular choices for clothes because of
its versatility. Many costume wardrobes are heavily made with velvets in fact. With its
nice dense pile and soft feel its a great overall fabric.
2. You may be able to use a more targeted and
specific type of fabric design for your clothing project like either a denim or camouflage
material. One thing to keep in mind with a specific and specialty type of material like
camouflage or denim is that their ability to go well with other types of clothing has
limits. The ability to wear certain clothing pieces with many outfits is a huge advantage
of more versatile materials.
3. How much are you wanting to spend on your
materials? Will you be able to get a good price no matter if you are buying large or small
quantities? If you are making many different similar pieces it would make sense to know
you can get all the material you need for a large discount. Of course if your just making
a simple vest or jacket then price may not be the main factor.
From having a versatile fabric to knowing what
type of project your working on for your clothing needs so you know what price to look for
these 3 tips have covered some main topics. You should now be able to make a better
decision when finding a good clothing material.
Shoe Basics --
Theres no single 'best shoe' everyone has different needs. All sorts of
things - your biomechanics, your weight, the surfaces you run on, and obviously, the shape
of your feet - mean that one person's ideal shoe can be terrible for another person.
We divide our shoes into three main categories
(cushioned, stability and motion control); and three minor ones (performance training,
racing and off-road). The first three are everyday options and are categorised essentially
by your biomechanical needs; the second three are more specialised and youd often
only consider them as second shoes.
The first step in finding your basic shoe needs is
to try our 'Wet Test', below or, preferably, to visit a biomechanics expert or experienced
shoe retailer.
The Wet Test works on the basis that the shape of your wet footprint on
a dry floor or piece of paper roughly correlates with the amount of stability you might
need in your shoe. It will show you what features you should look for and equip you with
the basic knowledge you need to make the most of our Shoe Finder, the next step in your
search.
Normal Feet -- Have a normal-sized arch and will leave
a wet footprint that has a flare, but shows the forefoot and heel connected by a broad
band. A normal foot lands on the outside of the heel and rolls inwards slightly to absorb
shock. Its the foot of a runner who is biomechanically efficient and therefore
doesnt need a motion control shoe.
Flat Feet -- This has a low arch and leaves a print
which looks like the whole sole of the foot. It usually indicates an overpronated foot
one that strikes on the outside of the heel and rolls inwards (pronates)
excessively. Over time, this can cause many different types of overuse injuries.
The High Arched Foot --This leaves a print showing a very narrow band or
no band at all between the forefoot and the heel. A curved, highly arched foot is
generally supinated or underpronated. Because it doesnt pronate enough, its
not usually an effective shock absorber.
